Boston Logan Airport Terminal A Evacuated After Device Prompts Bomb Threat

Long lines as passengers try to evacuate terminal A

Boston Logan airport’s terminal A was evacuated earlier today following the discovery of a potentially suspicious item inside a piece of luggage.

Officials said TSA agents at Terminal A were screening a Delta flight’s checked luggage when they saw a suspicious item, this prompted them to call for the MSP Bomb Squad. Troopers with the bomb squad determined that the item was a PlayStation video game console with a degraded condition assumed to be caused by age or damage, according to officials this condition caused abnormalities in the image it produced when x-rayed.

As a precaution Terminal A was evacuated and passengers were asked to get off aircraft, there were long lines to exit the buildings and passengers were asked to wait on the curb. Troopers gave all clear about an hour later (around 5:00 p.m.) and the terminal was reopened, passengers were required to be rescreened again as a precaution, many flights were cancelled, and passengers rebooked, though airlines tried to do as much as possible for this not to happen many did end up getting cancelled.
