Lion Air 737 makes emergency landing after engine fire

A Lion Air Boeing 737-800 was operating flight JT330 from Jakarta’s Soekarno-Hatta Airport to Palembang; shortly after takeoff, however, one of the plane’s engine’s caught fire, and the pilots returned to Jakarta.

The plane landed safely in Jakarta 39 minutes after departing; the aircraft was carrying 169 passengers onboard. Passengers claimed to have heard a loud explosion from the plane's left side a few moments after takeoff; videos and pictures of the engine seemingly on fire have also been posted online. When asked about a possible engine fire Lion Air said that engineers and pilots are still conducting tests on the aircraft.
